GUIDE
How do I batch-watermark HEIC photos?
Phone exports are often HEIC. Stampdrop accepts JPG / PNG / WEBP on the live path—not HEIC directly. Batch stamping is not about hunting a mythical “HEIC watermark button.” Convert to JPEG first, then stamp. Event wrap-ups, client deliveries, family album backups: same pipeline. One extra step looks slower. Fighting the wrong format is slower.
1. Stampdrop accepts JPG/PNG/WEBP—not HEIC directly
Per the live tool: drop JPG, PNG, or WEBP for local batch watermarks. HEIC/HEIF must become one of those first. Delivery packs almost always want JPEG.
Renaming .heic to .jpg does not decode the file. It only confuses you later. Free batch overview without upload framing: free batch watermarks, no upload.
Indie freelancers learn this the hard way: AirDrop a HEIC folder into Stampdrop, nothing useful happens, afternoon spent googling. Fix the format once with Heiclocal. Then stamp like any other JPEG set.
2. Heiclocal batch → Stampdrop → export
- 1. Open Heiclocal, multi-select HEIC, export JPEG. Steps: batch convert HEIC to JPG.
- 2. Open Stampdrop, drop the converted JPGs, set text or logo mark.
- 3. Export singles or a ZIP.
Both tools use a local main path—per product design, originals are not uploaded to our servers to finish convert or stamp. Keep a jpg-export/ folder separate from HEIC sources so you do not re-drag the wrong set. Support: [email protected].
Name folders by project and date. When a client asks “which pack was stamped,” you will know without opening every ZIP.
3. Spot-check; do not assume the whole pack is perfect
After convert, open a few frames: faces, bright skies, text on signs. After stamp, open a few more: mark placement, opacity, whether the mark covers a face or a price tag.
Quality follows each tool’s export settings. This page invents neither compression ratios nor a magic “max files per run.” Device and browser limits apply. If the tab struggles, split. A screaming laptop fan means shrink the batch—not that the files are corrupt.
Split by date or camera roll when you can. Rollback and re-stamp are clearer when half-packs stay tidy.

4. Optional Metastrip—where it sits in the order
Need less GPS and common EXIF on the outbound set? Use Metastrip.
One-line order pick: for client or public delivery, a common path is strip metadata, then watermark—full checklist in strip metadata, then watermark. If you still want a private backup that keeps original fields, archive that copy first, then strip the delivery copy.
Strip and stamp are two jobs. A watermark does not erase metadata. Metadata strip does not place a brand mark. Internal preview stamps can skip strip if that is your call.
5. Style and export deep-dives (lightly)
Logo on product crops: product photo logo. Export formats and how they look: export formats & quality. Try one frame before the whole pack.
Diagonal tile, corner logo, soft text—pick by composition. There is no single correct mark for every album.
Fix naming early: convert outputs and stamped outputs in different suffixes or subfolders. Re-running only the stamp step later is much easier. Team habit that helps: HEIC stays local backup; outbound packs are JPEG only. Saying it once in a checklist beats reminding people every Friday.
Phone “export unmodified” can still be HEIC. After copy to a PC, check extensions before you open Stampdrop. Convert success first. Stamp placement second. Decide archive policy for HEIC originals the same day you stamp—so tomorrow you still know which folder is the delivery set.
